  1. Start from a standing position.

  2. Squat by flexing your knees deeply.

  3. Walk/run forward beginning with long steps. Be sure to keep your feet in front of your body and not wide to the sides.

  4. As you go forward, continuously draw your sword; do not stop at any point.

  5. As you approach your opponent, your steps become shorter. One way to perfect the running footwork is to go slowly and just before nukitsuke, run in place.

  6. Nukitsuke as you step forward with your right leg. Settle your body down as you cut. The cut should be low, around the koshi, so keep your body low.

  7. Step with your left leg to your right, step with your right leg forward and kirioroshi.

  8. Perform o chiburui and noto. Remain standing.
